Wedding stores order by the largest size on a bride's body—bust, waist, or hips—so if a bust is a 6, waist is a 10, and hips are an 8, the gown will arrive in size 10. This means that during alterations, the bust will need to be taken down by 2 sizes, which often leads to high costs in the thousands and design disruptions to the dress. In other words, the final piece may not even look like the dress you originally ordered.
